Ahmed Shah
Muhammad Ahmed Shah was the first elected President of the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, and has continued to serve in that capacity for the past 11 years. Shah maintains a rapport with a complex network of trade unions, cultural organizations, human rights activists, lawyers’ associations, journalists and their Unions (including the PFUJ), print and electronic media houses and their CEOs and the owners, and the business community.
During Shah’s tenure, of the Arts Council has seen an upsurge in its activities, including theatre festivals, music festivals, youth festivals, dance festivals, literary festivals, and activities highlighting socio-political issues.
Shah is proud of the fact that he has been able to contribute to taking the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi onto an international plane, thereby creating awareness of Karachi as a city of Art, Culture, and Literature. During his tenure, the Karachi Arts Council has entered into collaboration with countries like China, Germany, USA, Portugal, and Japan.
